SmartPrep is an AI-assisted mobile application that helps students
generate structured study reviewers and mock examinations from their
own uploaded documents. This page explains what information SmartPrep
collects, how it is used, and how you can request that it be deleted.
Information We Collect
Account information:
your email address, used solely to create and secure your account
(via Firebase Authentication).
Uploaded documents: when
you generate a reviewer, the text of your uploaded document is sent
to our AI provider (Google Gemini, Groq, or OpenAI, in that
fallback order) to generate a summary and exam questions. This
text is not permanently stored on our servers after generation.
Generated content:
reviewers, mock exam questions, and your exam scores are stored
locally on your device so you can access them offline. A count of
how many reviewers you've generated (not their content) is stored in
our database to enforce a weekly usage limit.
How We Use This Information
To authenticate you and maintain your account.
To generate the reviewers and mock exams you request.
To enforce a fair-use weekly generation limit across all users.
Third-Party Services
SmartPrep relies on the following third-party services to function:
Firebase (Google) —
account authentication and usage-limit tracking.
Google Gemini — our
primary AI provider; processes uploaded document text to generate
reviewer content and exam questions.
Groq — a fallback AI
provider, used to process uploaded document text into reviewer
content and exam questions if Gemini is unavailable.
OpenAI — a further
fallback AI provider, used only if both Gemini and Groq are
unavailable.
We do not sell your information to any third party, for any purpose.
Data Retention
Your account information is retained for as long as your account
exists. Reviewers and exam data live locally on your device and are
never transmitted to us except at the moment of generation. You may
delete your account and all associated data at any time — see below.
Delete My Account
You can permanently delete your SmartPrep account and all associated
data at any time, using either method below. Deletion removes your
account record, your usage-limit record, and cannot be undone.
Option 1: Delete from within the app (fastest)
Open SmartPrep and sign in.
Go to the Profile tab.
Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
Enter your password to confirm.
This immediately deletes your account, your usage-limit record, and
every reviewer stored on your device.
Option 2: Request deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, or are unable to sign in,
email us using the address below from the same email address
registered to your SmartPrep account, with the subject line "Account
Deletion Request."
We will delete your account and associated data within
30 days of receiving your request, and confirm once it's done.
What Gets Deleted
Your account and email address (Firebase Authentication).
Your weekly usage-limit record.
Reviewers and exam history stored on your device, if deleted via
Option 1.
Note: reviewer and exam data created via Option 1 exists only on your
own device and is not otherwise recoverable by us if you request
deletion via email (Option 2) from a different device than the one it
was generated on.
